Why yoga?


Yoga is an ancient practice originating in India and dates back as early as 600 B.C. It is more than a series of physical poses. It is a whole system which brings health and harmony to the mind, body and soul by improving the energy flow or prana within the body. 

Whether you are looking to increase flexibility and strength, to restore posture and health, to improve energy levels and confidence to deal with new challenges, to de-stress or simply a good night’s sleep, regular yoga practice may provide this.

Group yoga classes


Hatha based classes which vary each week incorporating postures, breathing exercises, mindfulness and relaxation to promote a healthy body and mind. 

Group Classes

Suitable for mixed abilities (unless stated otherwise) and designed for ages 16 and over.  You decide how challenging or relaxing to make it.

Price

Block booking of four consecutive weeks, one class per week in Hall is £20, online is £15. 

Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat (optional blanket, block, strap).

Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs


Specialised 12-week self-care management course – simple and gentle poses for now and the future

Helps to relieve pain and discomfort, improves posture and mobility, enhances your breathing and relaxation and restores your confidence and positive outlook.

These are therapeutic classes, 75 minutes each session, taught in smaller groups with educational resources for a single course to learn life-long skills/yoga toolkit to help yourself.

Private lessons are available if you are a beginner, recovering from an injury or simply want to extend your yoga practice in the comfort of your own home.

About


Practising yoga for over 20 years and teaching since 2007, Mandy qualified with the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) Teacher’s Diploma course. Her tutor was Rosemary Bennett.

"I enjoy the variety and freedom of yoga where you can tailor it to how you feel and what you need at a moment in time - strength, flexibility, flowing sequences (vinyasas) or a more gentle relaxing session."

Mandy teaches Hatha based classes with influences from her teachers and the workshops she has attended over the years. Her classes combine postures (asanas) with breathing (pranayama) and mindfulness or meditation and end with a short relaxation session. She is particularly interested in yoga therapy and has attended workshops on this, including an Ayurvedic workshop with Mukunda Stiles.  Mandy completed the Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs (YHLB) teacher training with Alison Trewhala and is now running her own YHLB courses.  Mandy also qualified in Yin Yoga Teacher Training Level 1 in 2021.

Just love my Thursday intermediate yoga classes with Mandy and the other students. Mandy’s instructions are clear and easy to follow and she always has an alternative if any of the poses are not appropriate on that day for students. Lovely, warm, inspirational yoga teacher.
